Back then the family home was the prize
It’s what they were fighting for
If we could see the world through their eyes
Back then it was a different world
And all their gardens were neat
At the local hall they gave swing a whirl
And knew everyone on their street
Back then it was a different kind of fun
It was innocent and yet
You wouldn’t put it past anyone
To make a two up bet
Back then there was honour to uphold
there was some dignity in war
They stuck to their vows to have and to hold
It’s what they were fighting for
