Sydney way back when had class
and practiced etiquette
a city that was bold as brass

with Summer solstice set
in golden promise for one and all
Wrapped in cotton wool
In the thirties deco made it’s mark

and really set the tone
for long promenades in city parks
with handsome chaperones

who were well dressed and very polite
even though not very bright.
The forties were at times intense

with men gone off to war
but sacrifices seemed to make sense
and love was forever more

an integral part of a life well planned
carving innitials in the sand.

Then came the fifties morality code
in neon city lights
and Sydney followed a la mode

America in it’s sights.
This city had style way back then
For those who remember when …..
