Dogstars is mostly about dogs and their owners. Some of the stories are funny and some are sad but always written with a tender love and respect for man’s and woman’s best friend. The aim here is to focus on vintage dog themes and ideas including vintage ads and vintage Hollywood. A few poems too from the point of view of the dog of course. Dogs are a part of our comfort zones and without them many of us would be simply lost.
Dress him up and show him off
Turn your dog into a toff
Promenade in your best attire
Smile and coo when others enquire
about your pooch’s pedigree
as he wonders off to have a pee
Ah what a wonderful feeling it is
to have a dog that is such a whiz
To watch as others stare and drool
at the ultimate in doggie cool
Knowing that your dog will forever be
A furry version of ‘Mini Me’

Christmas I know is a festive time
And you can’t wait for time away
But please spare a thought for your canine
I too deserve a nice holiday
Please do some research on my chosen resort
Don’t send me to doggie boot camp
Make sure you get an updated report
On how they handle a champ
Find out what they will give me to eat
How long I’m allowed to play
What really happens in meet and greet
And how much you’ll have to pay
If you do all this before you depart
I’ll be just as excited as you are
I’ll know that I’ll always live in your heart
No matter how close or how far
I’ll know that you will return to fetch me
Take me back to our family home
Because though sometimes I love to run free
I really do prefer my comfort zone.

Ah but can you name their dogs?
If one day I have messy hair
He absolutely doesn’t care
If my clothes are inside out
He remains totally devout
And if I talk a load of dribble
He doesn’t argue with me or quibble
He merely gazes at me in awe
And offers me his fluffy paw
